Photo Friday: A horse and caruta

This continues a new series of posts on Fridays as I share an image from my experience as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Moldova.

This is a common scene in Moldova, especially when traveling to or through a village. This is a “caruta” [sounds like ca-root-za] where a cart-like wagon is often attached to a horse and carries a variety of things from harvest, animals, produce, products and family members. For some families this is their main means of transportation. I was out on some field-visits one day with my office when we were visiting a farm in the northern part of Moldova and the farmer came to meet us in his caruta from the field.
