Happy New Year!! (a little late) I’m a few days behind since I have been a bit unplugged from technology due to some holiday travels. More will come on that later.
At this time about a year ago I was contemplating on whether or not to accept the invitation I received from Peace Corps to come to Moldova. That’s crazy. It feels like a distant memory for me – so much has changed since then, and yet so much hasn’t.
So… 2015 is here. This will apparently be the whole, full year that I will be a resident of Moldova. A lot can happen in one year, and I am looking forward to it all. I usually am not one to like much change, but I also recognize in order for one to grow, things need to change. And so… here’s to a year of many changes ahead – whatever they may be!
Most things are still pretty new to me even after being in country for about 7 months… and New Year’s is one of my favorite holidays to celebrate.
For New Year’s this year I gathered with about 12 others where we went to see the fireworks in the center of the city of Chisinau. We oohed and aahed at the fireworks and the holiday lights.
Then we stumbled upon a dance party in the snow that happened to have a Santa Claus, a goat, an elephant, and a tiger on stage. And we danced the night away in sub-freezing temps and had a grand ‘ol time.
It was the most random and hilariously fun I’ve had in Chisinau yet.
So, here’s to 2015 and all that it may have in store. May your New Year be bright! Noroc!
