Etched on my Heart

When I think about the one thing that I will remember for the rest of my life from my recent trip to Rwanda… it is their eyes that I think of first. From the gentle, kind eyes of the men who helped me at the airport to the innocent baby on the airplane… to Les & Yvonne’s prayer-full and strong faith that poured out of their pores to their 13 adopted children who breathed and lived out hope… all of their eyes spoke to me in so many ways. Life. Hope. Love. Joy. Praise. Thanksgiving. Kindness. Peace. Patience. … Jesus.

A friend reminds me “Eyes are the gateway to the soul…” and I see why their eyes have been etched on my heart the most. I see beauty. I see Jesus.
